Expositor's Scripture For Today

September 2, 2020


1 Thessalonians 5: 15-24


15. See that none render evil for evil unto any [man]; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all [men].

(The biblical Christian presentation is the only system of such noble practice and we must do good for all even our enemies).


16. Rejoice evermore

(believers have every reason to do so and regardless of daily problem)


17. Pray without ceasing

(We should pray about everything)


18. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

(Thanksgiving for everything to God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ Ephesians 5:20, No matter what happens or how negative things might happen, we never stop thanking God, that is God's will).


19. Quench not the Spirit

(Do not quench the Holy Spirit, the power of God and all that come by the way of the Cross through our Lord Jesus Christ, we must walk in His way and obey Him in all). Ephesians 4:20)


20. Despise not prophesyings

(προφητεία prophēteía in Greek and it means a foreteller ('prophet'); in a similar way, an inspired speaker; by extension, a poet: - prophesies,

1 Corinthians 14: 4 Whoever speaks with his own [unknown] tongue; but prophesied twice as much as the church.)


21. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good

(When prophecies are made, or whatever claims to be of God, it should be tested, tested is, 'Is it the Bible?' We should always keep fat for it. which is good, this refers to the screening process to accept the certainty of God, and reject the not.)


22. Abstain from all appearance of evil.

(The question is 'does this please God')


23. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

(This is 'Progressive Sanctification', possible only by the Holy Spirit, who acts as if our faith is firmly anchored on the Cross, in which the parameters of the Spirit are always active; The process of sanctification involves all humans, we must Keep our selves until Jesus returns' Clumsy, righteous or unrighteous that affects all children people, not just body or soul and some claim, we must always remember to walk in the righteous path of the Cross and receive it every day, Luke 9:23).


24. Faithful [is] he that calleth you, who also will do [it].

(God will do exactly what He said He would do, and He will always be faithful to His Word, He wants to bless His people, as long as we believe Him and follow His Word, and sanctify us completely).
