The Epistle of Paul The Book of Romans series: Learning to be rooted and established in The Cross of Christ

Called to be Saints

Romans 1:7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called [to be] saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

As Paul continues to speak to the Church at Rome here in his letters, he reminds them that they are the beloved of God and are called to be Saints, and as well as when a person gives their life to the Lord Jesus Christ, they to are called the Beloved Saints of God.

In the Greek the word "to be Saints" is ἅγιος hágios, hag'-ee-os and it means, sacred (physically, pure, morally blameless or religious, ceremonially, consecrated):—(most) holy (one, thing), saint. from ἅγος hágos (an awful thing) i.e. sin.

Every person who is saved is a Saint, and is made possible by Jesus Christ and what He did on the Cross, each and every day a person walks with the Lord, the Lord continues to cleanse them as long as they walk according to the way of the Cross.

All the Grace of God was given and provided to all through the Cross.

The peace that we receive is Sanctifying peace that comes from both God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit (The Trinity) inspiring the Words given to Paul to be written.

What a blessing it is to read the letters that Paul wrote to the Church at Rome as well as many other of his letters to other churches.

We are living for Christ Jesus every day, we are saved and being saved, taking up our Cross each and every day, walking after the Righteousness of Christ Jesus and what He has done for us at Calvary's Cross, shedding His precious Blood for all who receive Him by faith and in that are justified by faith in that finished work.

The only way to God is through Jesus Christ, the only way to Jesus is through the Cross, and the only way to the Cross is a denial of self, crucifying the flesh completely.

No one has or ever will be awarded Sainthood because of deeds and works which all come from a merit system that God does not acknowledge.

True Salvation only comes by the way of the Cross and the Blood that washes all sin to the converted believer when their faith is completely and solely in the finished work of what Jesus has done at the Cross.

The free gift that was paid for by Jesus on the Cross afforded the Believer and is given to the believer upon faith, is the only Righteousness freely imputed that God will recognize because it's by what has been bought and paid for by the shed Blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as a result, He can legally declare that person a Saint.

The legal words for this are “Sanctification and Justification” by faith we are justified and daily are Sanctified, which comes only by the way of the Cross as the sinner cries to God the Father for Salvation and with that is a act of faith and that person is instantly Sanctified which actually means "to be cleansed and to be made clean".

Soon after a person prays the sinner's prayer, by faith, justification immediately follows in which the person is declared clean by God, and sees their sins no more but sees the Blood of Jesus that covers a multitude of sins.

Before a person can be declared clean, that person must be made clean, which means that Sanctification, (that is God's plan of Salvation is put in place) and the scheme of Salvation comes first.

The person realizes they are a sinner and are in need of a Savior, then by faith repents and excepts Jesus as their Lord and Savior, then by faith, believes in what Jesus did at the Cross are wash, cleansed of all sin past, present, and future as long as that person walks by the way of the Cross each and every day, keeping their eyes on Jesus and the finished work of the Cross.

We must remember "Grace" is something that comes to the believer as the believer understands everything that we receive from God is made possible by Jesus and what He has done for us on the Cross.

What does the Cross mean for the Believer?

It means Jesus is the source of everything that we need that God has provided for on the Cross, we must know and understand God's Grace is sufficient for us.

Anything we lack or are in need of we can cry "ABBA Father" because of the Blood of Jesus that covers Believer, when we pray, He hears and answers our prayers.

Be very cautious as Saints of God, the moment that the believer places their faith in anything other than the Cross of Christ, Grace is then frustrated and thereby withdrawn, we must remember never to frustrate the Grace of God that Jesus paid such a high price for on the Cross.
