The Epistle of Paul The Book of Romans series: Learning to be rooted and established in The Cross of Christ

Unmerited favor

Romans 1:5-6

5. By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

6. Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:

When Paul says “by whom we have received grace and apostleship” is is God who gives His Grace and called Paul to apostleship as we are all called by God as we receive His grace, "the unmerited favor" for the obedience to faith which is Jesus and Him Crucified.

Everything that we received comes from God through Jesus Christ and what He has done for us on the Cross.

It is one gospel, for the entirety of the world that we are called for His namesake, Jesus is the one who has purchased our redemption by and through the Cross of Calvary.

It is by faith that we receive Jesus Christ to be our Lord in Savior, therefore submitting ourselves to Him and the finished work He has completed on the Cross, not only believing, but walking in it.

To the faith” in the Greek is πίστις pístis, pis'-tis and it means, persuasion, i.e. credence; moral conviction (of religious truth, or the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher), especially reliance upon Christ for salvation; abstractly, constancy in such profession; by extension, the system of religious (Gospel) truth itself:—assurance, belief, believe, faith, fidelity. from the meaning πείθω peíthō, pi'-tho a primary verb; to convince (by argument, true or false); by analogy, to pacify or conciliate (by other fair means); reflexively or passively, to assent (to evidence or authority), to rely (by inward certainty):—agree, assure, believe, have confidence, be (wax) conflent, make friend, obey, persuade, trust, yield.

As becoming Saints, we walk by the faith that was provided for us on the Cross by Jesus who paid the highest price for all sin, and as we receive God's Grace, we receive the unmerited favor of God through the Cross by faith, and as we continue to walk by faith, we yield to the righteousness which is in Jesus Christ our Lord, we must obey His Words, yield to His righteousness taking up our cross each and every day.

Everything that God has given is a gift, nothing is for sale, and what He has done for us we cannot earn it nor we cannot purchase it because we are surely cannot be worthy of it.

Everything we receive comes strictly by faith and it must be in the correct object that is Jesus and what He has done for us on the Cross.

It is the Cross and the Cross alone that makes the grace of God available to all.

It is in Jesus by faith that we have God's unmerited favor, but if we place our faith in anything else other than the Cross of Christ which is Jesus and Him Crucified, we run the risk and the danger of committing spiritual adultery which causes tremendous problems for the Child of God.

We do not want to frustrate the Grace of God!

The Holy Spirit will never work outside of the finished work of the Cross and if we put our faith in any other object other than the Cross of Christ, it stops the Holy Spirit from doing all of the good things that He alone can do for us.

We know that it is God the Father who has all types of good things for us, we must remember that it is Jesus who paid the price for all things.

All of these wonderful things are given to us by the power of the Holy Spirit, we must remember and understand that the Holy Spirit works only and exclusively through the Cross of Christ.

As Paul was called to take the gospel to the Gentiles, every believer is to do the same, take the gospel into all the world.
