The Epistle of Paul The Book of Romans series: Learning to be rooted and established in The Cross of Christ

The promises of God

Romans 1:2 Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the Holy Scriptures

In this verse, Paul is referring to God when he said "Which he had promised" who is the one that promised through "His" prophets in the Holy Scriptures a promised Redeemer who is the Lord Jesus Christ.

In the Old Testament times, the office of the Prophet was the highest calling and a great blessing to be used of God Himself.

Men of that time could not call individuals to be prophets and that responsibility would be reserved for the Lord only.

Prophets called of the God, would guide Israel as a nation as the Lord instructed them but unfortunately there were false prophets at that time spreading their false message that would not come from God.

However, the message that would come from the true "Prophet of God" was always singular which means that it instantly was recognizable as being from God and that His word can be trusted, men will lie, but God will never lie, He is not like man that He should lie.

Satan always tries to find ways to take by force the authority of the call of the Prophet or the Apostle and most of the time he does this by using religion in some way, form, or fashion, this conflict has been raging from the very beginning, even all the way back with Cain killing his brother Abel, as well as the prophets who were killed down through the centuries (Matthew 23:37).

Persecution was a dark reality over the ages, even for Paul as well as in the times we live in now, things have not changed at all!

The reality of it all, there are many divisions among God's people even today, there are some who are dividing God's Word into many different versions, putting men's stamp on God's Word and calling it righteous but in reality, it is sinful which causes confusion within the Church as well as new babes in Christ trying to learn the Truth of God's Word which is Jesus in Him Crucified.

Jesus says in Matthew 4:4 “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God”

Satan will try to get you to question your faith and follow after him, but our Lord Jesus Christ is the fullness of the Grace of God knowing that, we must keep our eyes focused on Him and live by the truth that is in our Savior and what He has done for us on Calvary's Cross.

The promises of God can only be revealed through the Truth of His Word, and Jesus is the Way, the Truth, the Life and no one can come to the father except through Him!

Let the reader understand, the Cross of Christ is the means and the only means by which all wonderful things are given to us by God and outside of the Cross, there is no other way to receive the glorious blessings that the Lord has in store to all those who walk by the way of the Cross putting their complete faith exclusively in Jesus and what He has done for us on the Cross (1 Corinthians 2:9).

It is the Cross and the Cross only is what makes justification by faith possible!
